restart

twenty twelve has been interesting so far. a death in the family. elodie almost hospitalized with pneumonia. it felt so good to go through the pictures of the three days leading up to the new year and mentally start over. palm springs was a blur of unexpected encounters with friends old and new. we swam from the time the sun came up until late in the afternoon. ate breakfast and lunch by the pool. sat by the fire and roasted marshmallows after dinner. listened to music over the speakers echo across the starry desert. roamed around joshua tree. definitely a trip for the books.

  4. Best wishes for a much happier 2012. I am sorry for your loss. Your images from this trip are ispiring. My family has also undergone some challenges and we are thinking about "escaping". Could you share where you stayed in Palm Springs and where you swam and took the family? We have a 2.5yr old and I'm not sure where in Palm Springs to take him. I've only been to PS once myself.

  5. I'm sorry to hear about the less than ideal start to 2012 Elizabeth- I hope Elodie is doing much better now. Your photos are truly gorgeous, the perfect little vignettes of the sunny retro aesthetic to Palm Springs. The first photo could win an award! I love the composition and vintage quality, and how dwarfed Elodie is by the mountains in the background. And her darling little bathing suit and legs in motion. And I DO believe I spy the chubby tail-end to a bulldog in one of those pool photos! Too cute.

Anyways, looking at my favorite pictures is my fool-proof way to feel better when sad things are happening beyond my control, too. Quite amazing what a picture can do. Hoping tomorrow is a better day. : ) xx
